Day 1

Leh to kanji. (170km) (Drive)

Camping site: Kanji

Altitude : 3850 m

 

After Breakfast you will Drive to lamayuru and the to Kanji on Leh- srinagar highway. Today you have an amazing and spectacular view of mountain and you will see the beautiful view and confluence  of Zanskar and Indus River, Enroute  you can visit the Most important Monastery of Ladakh known as Alchi, that was built in 11th century and by the Great Lama Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo ( The Great Translator) after visit you will have Lunch there and then Drive to Kanji, Overnight Stay at Camping.

Day 2

Kanji to Kanji Dok.( Trek)

Camping site : Kanji Dok

Altitude: 4100 m

Time: 3 to 4 hour

 

Morning after breakfast you will explore the Kanji village there are 15 families in a village and then you will start your first day trek along the right side of the river.after an easy walk you will reach at small Hamlet and campsite. The you will be surrounded by stunning mountain.

Day 3

kanji Dok to Shillakong ( Trek)

Pass of the Day - Yogma-la ( 4720 M)

Camping site:  Shillakong

Altitude: 4300 m

Time : 5 to 6 hour

 

After breakfast you will start walking toward the Yogma-la Decent ascend and you will reach the Top Yogma-la (4720 mtr) pass, From the top you will have a Spectacular View of landscape and valley, after a gentle descent you will reach the Campsite.

Day 4

shillakong to Urtsi Dok (Trek)

Pass of the Day: Nigutse-la (5100 mtr)

Camping site: Urtsi Dog

 Altitude : 4300 m

Time: 5 to 6 hour

 

Today you will again have a pass to cross, after breakfast walking for 2 to 3 hour you will reach to the top of the pass Nigutse-la (5100 mtr ), you will have the best view of Himalayas mountain, After crossing the pass you have to descend and reach the campsite.

 

Day 5

Urtsi Dog to Photoksar (Trek)

Pass of the Day: Sisir-la (4800 mtr)

Camping site: Photoksar

Altitude:4200 m

Time: 4 to 5 hour

 

You have another pass to cross today, Sisir -la (4800 mtr) high pass, after breakfast you will ascend for a while and the go down toward the river, you need to cross to the river, so its advisable to carry your slipper and some extra cloths. After crossing the river you will ascend toward the Sisir -la after crossing the pass it’s gentle and easy descend to the village Photoksar a remote isolated village. Campsite is before the village near the river.

Day 6

Photoksar to Singey-la base. (Trek)

Pass of the day: Boumitse-la (4200mtr)

Camping site: Singey-la Base

Altitude:4400 m

Time: 7 hour

 

After breakfast, today you have to cross a small and easy pass, after a small ascend continue walking along the clear path and then ascend again and reach the top Boumitse - la (4200 mtr), from the pass you will see the singer - la pass, Easy descend and then to reach the Base of the pass and the campsite you need to cross many small streams and to forget to carry your slipper.

 

Day 7

Singey -la  base to Skyumpatta (Trek)

Pass of the Day: Singey-la (4950 mtr)

Camping site: Skyumpatta

Altitude:4000 m

Time:7 to 8 hour

Today you have to cross two Pass one is Singey -la (4950 mtr) and another one is Kyukpa -la (3850mtr) Ascending starts right from the campsite and before you reach the top of Singey la it’s steep ascend in Zigzag about 1000 mtr , the route is steep descend down need to be careful because of loose boulder. After following the clear path you have to cross the small pass called kyukpa, easy ascend and easy descend. After crossing clear water stream you will see the campsite.

Day 8

Skyumpatta - Lingshed - Hanamu -la Base

Pass of the day: Netuksi-la

Camping site: Hanamu-la Base

Altitude:4000 m

Time: 7 hour

As usual after breakfast  you will leave the camp and follow the trail and and ascend toward another pass Netuksila pass. It's a long ascend and long day indeed make sure you are carrying enough water, following the well defined trail you will reach the Lingshed village, if you are interested you can visit the old Lingshed Monastery which was built on the hill by Great lama Lotsava ranches zangpo (The Translator). After the visit continue walking toward the Hanamu -la base by crossing the small bridge and walking on the right side of the village you will reach the campsite.

Day 9

Hanamu -la base to Zingchen (Trek)

Pass of the day: Hanamu-la (4700 mtr)

Camping site: Zingchen

Altitude: 3410 m

Time: 7 to 8 hour

The Hanamu -la pass which follows  zigzag trial and then from the top you will have wonderful view of the zansker range. After crossing the pass easy descending and then at the last part steep descend and then you will be at the bank of the river there you have your camp.

Day 10

Zingchen to Hanamur village (Teak)

Pass of the Day : Parfi-la (3900 mtr)

Camping site: Hanamur village

Altitude: 3400 m

Time: 6 hour

Start the trek along the down stream of the river bad up to the stupa, from here now slowly ascend start toward the Parfi-la  (3900 mtr). Cross the pass and you will have Zansker river on the left, then you have to walk 2 more hour to reach the camp.

Day 11

Hanamur to Pishu - zangla (Trek)

Camping site: Zangla

Altitude: 3420 m

Time:5 to 6 hour

today you will walk along the right bank of the zansker river and before you reach your campsite at Pishu you will pass through another village called Pidmo, and you may see some yaks and animals   because of the pastureland, after crossing the Zansker river over the bridge you will reach your campsite on the bank of the Zansker river.

 

Day 12

Zangla to Stonde- Karsha- Shilla (Drive)

Camping site: Shilla

Altitude: 3650 m

Time: Full day.

The easy Day start with breakfast and then drive to Stonde village and then visit the monastery which was built by Lama Marpa on the hill top in around 12th century. Then continue drive to Karsha. Visit the Karsha monastery which is one of the largest monastery in Whole Zansker built by Lama Phagspa Shesrap. The view from the monastery is worth seeing. Then visit the capital of Zansker Padum You can buy your basic needs there,  as there are many shops. Continue Drive to Shilla overnight at shills.

Day 13

Shilla to Raru. ( Trek)

Camping site: Raru

Altitude: 3750 m

Time: 5 to 6 hour

After breakfast continue walking along the left bank of the river till you reach Muni. if you are interested Enroute you can visit the BarDan monastery  after walking for a while you will come to a bridge, after crossing the bridge you need to keep walking on right bank of the river till you reach the village Raru.

Day 14

Raru to Kalbock (Trek).

Camping site: Kalbock

Altitude: 3850 m

Time: 6 to 7 hour

after crossing the river over the bridge at Raru village you have such a spectacular view of landscape, you will pass through a small beautiful village and then cross the river over the wooden bridge and continue walking till you reach a tea shop at Tsetang. Then after slow  ascend you will reach the campsite.

Day 15

Kalbock to Purney (Trek)

Camping site: Purney

Altitude: 3820 m

Time: 4 to 5 hour

Easy day you will walk to Purnay village which is not Far you will walk along the river side and then cross the bridge and keep walking and you will reach your campsite.

Day 16

Purney to Phugtal then Back to Purney (trek)

Camping site: Purney

Altitude: 3820 m

Time: 5 to 6 hour

Today you are going to visit one of the most important monastery in Zansker, known for its monastic school and built on the rock cliff and has a large cave, built by the Lama Changsem Sharp Zangpo. the walk to the monastery you have a very beautiful gorge. Walk back to the Purney Village. Overnight at camp .

Day 17

Purney to Kargyak. (Trek)

Camping site: Kargyak

Altitude:4180 M

Time: 7 to 8 hour

Today you will pass through many small and beautiful villages like Yal village, Tetse village, Kuru village and continue walking till you reach the bridge and after crossing the Bridge you keep walking till you reach the campsite at Kargyak village.

Day 18

Kargyak to Pankeya (trek)

Camping site: Pankeya

Altitude: 4700 m

Time: 5 to 6 hour

After breakfast you will walk along the right side of the river and you will reach the place Gonbo Rangjon a sacred buddhist place.keep on walking till you see the teashop and then cross the river and walk further to reach the campsite.

Day 19

Pankeya to Zansker Sumdo.(Trek)

Pass of the Day: Shingo-la (5090 mtr).

Camping site: Sumdo

Altitude: 4100 m

Time: 7 to 8 hour

Today you are crossing the last pass of your trek Shingo-la (5090 mtr)from the top you will have spectacular panoramic view of landscape and after crossing the pass gentle descent and then need to cross many small streams, don't forget to carry your slipper, walking for a while you will reach  your campsite.

Day 20

Zansker Sumdo to Pal-Lhamo (Trek)

Camping site: Pal-Lhamo

Altitude: 3650 m

Time: 5 to 6 hour

today you have easy day and very beautiful camping site at Pal-Lhamo. after costing the streams yo will walk along the river and reach your camp.

 

Day 21

Pal-Lhamo to Rarik (trek) Then to either Manali or Leh( Drive).

Hotel:

Today is you last day of trek and easy walk for 2 to 3 hour and the drive back to your destination place.

THINGS to CARRY

This is not a definitive list but we suggest that all students carry at least these items while traveling to Ladakh.

- Sunblock or sunscreen with SPF 50+*

- 2 t-shirts (preferably fast drying) *

- 1 thin fleece *

- 1 long sleeved t- shirt *

- 1 fleece jacket *

- 1 light water proof / windproof jacket

- 1 pair of long trousers *

- 1 pair sturdy trainers *

- 1 pair of flip – flops *

- Several pairs of thin and thick socks *

- Warm cap, scarf and gloves

- First aid kit ( medicines are not easy to get on the trail )

- Water bottle *

- Torch light / head lamp with spare batteries

- Camera with extra battery

- Minimal wash kit including biodegradable soap,

tooth-brush and toothpaste *

- Bag for putting garbage *

- Sunglasses and sun-hat

- Sanitary item for women *

- Lip balm and small water bottle *

- A down jacket and wind proof trousers

- A book to read is not a bad idea *

There is no specific age-group- our travelers could be anywhere between 12-70. We host student groups so some of our travelers are also remarkably young. 

We only ask that our travelers come with a healthy body and a mindset open to reflection and cross-cultural immersion.

What is included in the cost of the program?

Accomodation on MAP basis which includes breakfast, dinner and sleeping arrangements, permit fee to the governed areas, transportation costs while on the trip, guide and porters fee, facilitators fee, food while traveling, 

What is not included in the cost of the program?

Flight tickets (but we can help you with booking if requested beforehand), travel insurance, entrance fee in some places where applicable e.g. in some monasteries, medical expenses if any encountered on the trip 

What happens if we fall sick or get injured?

The group leaders and guides are trained in basic first aid and emergency healthcare providence. In cases of higher emergency, we facilitate swift and immediate response to transfer the person to the nearest hospital/healthcare provider. 

What is a typical travel day like with Edventure Ladakh?

You could be engaged with anything from working on the farms to taking the cows for grazing on the mountains on your trip. Since learning by immersion is an important part of our trips, you could even be attending a kayaking workshop with our expert facilitators. 

On some days, you can expect training in local handicrafts or intensive courses in language or philosophy. All experiences are designed keeping in mind our travel audience and we believe in allowing them to immerse and learn from their environment.
